Given the multitude of reptiles which are able to be kept in Victoria, providing information on each is beyond this web site.  What we will do here is correct some of the many inaccuracies being espoused by some pet shops in Geelong.

1. You do not need a wildlife license to own Macquarie short neck or Eastern long neck tortoises in Victoria.
2. Under all situations when a tortoise is kept inside, it requires an adequate UV light installed in the correct manner. This is very important.
3. Not all snakes have the same temperature requirements.
4. No one can state that a python needs x temperature without knowing the species of the snake, the type of heating being used, the location of the thermostat and the size of the enclosure.
